WorkSTEPS

Adams Health Network Therapy Department provides screening services through WorkSTEPS, the nation’s leading provider of functional employment testing.

WorkSTEPS’ content-valid functional employment testing includes pre-employment, post-offer testing, post-employment fit-for-duty testing, upper quadrant/carpal tunnel testing, return-to-work/fit-for-duty and functional capacity evaluations (FCE) post-injury. Our tests are medically safe, legally compliant, scientific, objective and specifically designed to match a worker’s functional capabilities with the essential functions of the job.

Companies that begin using WorkSTEPS experience significant and immediate results – typically a 40% to 50% reduction in workers’ compensation claims and related costs over the previous year, with continued reductions thereafter.

Employers who begin utilizing the WorkSTEPS program experience the following benefits:

  • Reduced workers’ compensation claims
  • Decreased turnover
  • Increased worker productivity
  • Safer work environment
  • Reduced lost time
  • Diminished incidence of fraud and abuse
  • Reduced modifier rates and workers’ compensation premium
  • Reduced group health costs

WorkSTEPS also helps mitigate costs and days lost due to injury throughout the post-injury process. For example, historical pre-injury data from post-offer tests can be used as a “baseline” for claims. In addition, WorkSTEPS data helps facilitate accommodation to reduce time lost due to injury.

Testing data also provides the following benefits:

  • Can assist in resolution of claims
  • Can help mitigate the number and cost of claims
  • Helps evaluate physical performance and capabilities post-injury

Please call our Rehabilitation Department at 260-724-2145 ext. 11031, to schedule an appointment.

Work Conditioning Program

Our work conditioning program is designed for patients who have been injured on the job and are not ready to return to work at full capacity, such as someone who has returned to work at modified duty but may benefit from further training and conditioning in proper body mechanics for lifting, carrying, overhead activities, stooping, crouching and other simulated work activities. The program is a transitional bridge between acute rehab and work.

Who can benefit from the work conditioning program?

  • Patients who have reached a plateau in their rehab program
  • Patients who have a low pain level but continued deficits in strength and activity tolerance
  • Patients who have successfully completed their regular course of therapy but have been out of work for an extended period and need help preparing for return to the physical demands of their job

Our rehabilitation department offers extended hours of operation in outpatient rehabilitation to accommodate working patients. Please call 260-724-2145, ext. 11031, to schedule an appointment.
